Daniel Had It Right…

What Are Today’s Christians Doing? Part 1

Viewing family photos from my childhood when I was real little, four to seven years old, makes me wonder how God viewed me? With all the Christian type things that my family did, you could say the Howard family was on fire for Jesus Christ. The pictures remind me of the times that my parents spent as God fearing Church attendees. But, as this world’s life goes on, it just reminds me of the different things that God will put in your life to see if you love this world more than him.

Living in this world can make you just forget God. Trust me, my family had forgotten God and wanted to make the things of this world better for them. Is that what God wants every Christian to do? I am not saying that my family totally sold out to the world but, I am just saying that we had got a lot of this world’s prizes in front of God. So, as I had grown in age and knowledge, not all of God, I can see why the principles and commandments of God are so important. I strive to live in God Will, “Not my will, but thine, be done”, Luke 22:42.

Throughout my teenage, young adult, and adult years, I think God had really taken me on a journey that I didn’t want to go on. But now looking back, I can see that it was the best route for me, I just wish God would be so gentle with everyone? I digress, I don’t want anyone to go on the journey that I have gone on because I don’t want anyone to be able to speak with the insight that God has shown me. That is why I believe God shows different people different things that they can bring up in front of people in their church’s, community, or online.

In Daniel chapter 9, there is a stark reminder of what God is going to do with mankind in verse 27. God will let the man live the way he wants to, not by God’s statutes. But, that is going to happen after the Rapture or catching away of the body of believers, those who have put their trust in Jesus Christ, but what is happening before this time comes?

Great that you were wondering about this because I have something that God has shown me through has Word. In Daniel chapter 9 verse 3-7, 8-15, and 16-19 so, I will break this down over the weeks to come.

Daniel 9:3-7

3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
4 and I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
5 we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments:
6 neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
7 O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.

Verses 3-4

I want to tell everyone, I have not arrived yet, I am not the fierce prayer warrior that I would like to be. Although I ask God for supplications every minute of the day and at times I fast for things that I feel are important not only to God but to people around me, I don’t get a sackcloth and ashes and pray like men in the Bible did, such as, Job, Abraham, Daniel, David, to Paul, there are a lot of choices to choose from. But I read this in, The Hidden Life of Prayer, by David MacIntyre, “Prayer is the key of heaven; the Spirit helps faith to turn this key”. I do believe that today’s born-again Christian needs to pray now more than ever. You can pray anywhere, as I think you should, but when you are earnestly seeking out answers from God, you should pray where you go to Worship God. Because when you pray in God’s house, God knows you have not come for not, you want your prayers answered. Isaiah 56:7, and Isaiah 37:14-20 & Isaiah 38:1-7, God’s house is called a house of prayer for all people.

Verses 5-6

Saying the above, I know that I have sinned against a Holy and Righteous God. Committed iniquity against a Holy and Righteous God, myself, and man. I have done wickedly to other people, myself, and to a Holy and Righteous God. I have rebelled from authority and against a Holy and Righteous God. I haven’t woke up when the Pastor, Evangelist, Sunday School Teacher, Lay Preacher, parents or anyone else was saying just what God wanted me to hear but, I can say that I am listening more and more. Because in 1 Samuel 3, Samuel thought Eli called him two times but, Eli told him he was not and he needed to see if God was calling him? So, Samuel went back to bed and ask the Lord to speak for the servant of God is listening. It has taken me about 40 years but now I listen to what God is telling me throughout my entire life, just if I would have done that sooner.

Verse 7

Now in this verse, I have changed the country, state, and city to the area that I live in, I figure if you are a born-again believer you can do the same thing also. Righteousness belongs to God, but all that we can muster up these days is confusion. To the born again believers in Texas, and the people in San Antonio and unto all of the United States of America, and to the world. Why are believers committing such sin against God and doing nothing about it? We sin and when you know it is a sin against God, you should turn away from that sin. Are we doing that or just staying with the sin that we think no one knows about? 1 John 3:6-7, this is a great way to examine yourself to see if you’re in the faith but also a way to see if someone may simply be professing Christ but not living like Christ.

You should think that God can do what he wants to do, how he wants to do it, and when he when he wants to do it. One of the best ways that I can think of to do the will of God is read your Bible, pray, and seek what God would have you to do. Luke 22:42, you don’t matter but the will of God does.
